Hello friends,
How are you? Over the past couple of months I’ve leaned away from my Kindle and Kindle mobile app and back into paperbacks. It has been a joy. I park my phone in the kitchen and retreat to linen sheets and a heating pad to enjoy whatever fiction I picked up at the library that week.
I zipped through 9 of Lisa Jewell’s books, Carrie Soto is Back, Modern Lovers, and a bunch of other randoms. Why is reading the best?! Holding the books in my hands is beyond satisfying. I love seeing the stack by my bed. I love checking them off one by one. It both means something and nothing that I read all this stuff and it is one of the great highlights of daily life these days, next to a 5-year-old pretending to be a pug 24/7, my Olive and June + sour candy ritual, and meal kits.
It’s the little things, right?
End of (podcasting) era
Last week I let my Little Things Podcast domain go and canceled my website. The podcast exists in the ether but I haven’t touched it in about two years.
I started Little Things in 2017?! in my freezing closet in Berkeley. It was a creative outlet and a way to create accountability around creating something on the regular. I’ve also always been super interested in radio and audio and wanted to learn some of those tools. I recorded 60 episodes and grew a small, but engaged audience. It was a vehicle for personal growth and career accountability and a beautiful way to make new connections in-person and online. I LOVED podcasting. In my dreams, a podcast is back in the picture.
Anywho, it feels like the official closure of an era. In the back of my mind it feels important to put a bow on it in the hopes of a rebirth in the future. Already the process feels like clearing the cobwebs for a new incantation….
Online window shopping
That’s what I’m calling my “relaxation hobby”. Where I peruse my favorite brands’ websites, add items to carts, and never buy. Do you do this too?
